What services will a good driving instructor in saskatoon offer?

The main goal of any driving instructor in Saskatoon is to provide lasting instruction on how to safely navigate the streets, freeways and highways in and around Saskatoon.

As a student it is important to have the skills and knowledge of the rules of the road. As a driver you are responsible for your vehicle and passengers as well as sharing the road with other drivers.

As a driving instructor it is our job to provide comprehensive training of real life driving situations and to know the difference between real and potential hazards.

As an instructor it is Important to teach practical driving experiences on the “what if’s” as we create safer roads for us and future generations. Driving is a life skill which stays with you through the course of your life. Therefore driving is important please take driving seriously!

Services you should expect from driving instructors in Saskatoon:

(1) SGI certification: as a student always ask for proof of SGI certification. A certified SGI driving instructor should provide current and correct instruction and is responsible to keep his/her driving skills and knowledge updated.

(2) Provide in class instruction as practical skills and knowledge that are relevant in today’s driving experiences. In class instruction reinforces our knowledge of the rules of the road from the SGI handbook, but also expands on this knowledge.

(3) In-class practical knowledge, should answer student’s questions. Regarding questions on timing, right of ways, when should I go, when should I wait. Making a left or right turn correctly, correct lane changes, etc.

(4) Road/Street driving lessons: once in class is complete- student should have orientation to the outside and inside of driver training vehicle. Next we can take the in class information and put it into action. Most students will receive 6 hours of driving instruction. Instructors will practice turns, lane changes, lane position, SMSM (signal, mirrors, shoulder check, and then move). Parallel parking, following and stopping distance, walk lights, traffic signals, IPDE, as well as real and potential hazards. Preparing new drivers to become confident drivers as they share the road with other drivers.

(5) Well maintained vehicle: As a certified driving instructor we are mandated to keep our driving instructor vehicle “clean and well maintained”.

Vehicle should have good brakes and tires and ensure that the vehicle has good climate controls as temperatures can fluctuate.

My vehicle is a 2015 Nissan Rogue SL with all the modern/current features found in most vehicles today.

This is a summary of the services a driving instructor/school should offer. Today students have several choices. I suggest you do not always look for the least expensive, as these instructors or schools

Maybe taking shortcuts. Taking shortcuts when teaching driving could be dangerous if you do not know what to do when the “What If’s” happen.

Take care and drive safe!
